Insights into the properties of DMSO

DMSO is an organic solvent with a slightly oily consistency that can be extracted from tree wood. It is closely related to the sulfur-containing compound MSM, but differs in its chemical composition.

One of the notable characteristics of DMSO is its hygroscopicity, meaning it attracts water and mixes well with it. It has a melting point of 18°C. Below this temperature, DMSO tends to crystallize, a process that is reversible when heated to approximately 20-22°C. To liquefy, we recommend placing the bottle in warm water—avoid using a microwave.
